Qualifications and experience
The competence of sports coaches to deliver activities safely should
be verified through up-to-date evidence of the following:
- Relevant experience
- Appropriate national governing body coaching award
- First aid training recommended by the Health and Safety Executive
- Child protection training
- Satisfactory references
- Satisfactory enhanced Criminal Records Bureau disclosure certificate

Remember:
- Always ask to see original confirmation of certificates
- Regardless of qualifications and experience, a minor (under 18 years of age)
cannot carry the legal responsibility for a group of children and therefore should always work directly
alongside a competent adult
